The Wellspring pitaya is growing nicely.  It has lots of air roots.  I can't wait until it fruits.

Lowes Dragon Fruit

The Lowes hylocereus is flushing.  I am hoping for long, stout branches.  I need to greatly increase the plant's mass so that it will fruit.  I'm kind of curious as to what type of fruit it will produce.  I predict the fruit will be either white or pink due to the presence of 3-5 spines at each node.  I hope the fruit is good.

The physical graffeti dragon fruit plant is progressing nicely.  The shoot is growing and it has started to grow roots.

Amazing Epiphytes

The hylocereus cacti are amazing.  My Wellspring dragon fruit has grown about 1.5 inches in a week.  It spontaneously grew two air roots after I began to wonder why my pitayas were not producing air roots as plentiful as scientists indicate.  The side that produced the roots is adjunct to a wooden post.  I got so excited that I positioned my other plants to lean against the posts, hoping they will quickly sprout roots to speed up the growth rate.

I began to despair about my new cuttings,  hoping they would not require 3 to 4 months to establish roots and begin growing.  Today I noticed a light green nodule has cracked through the scar crust at the tip of thr Physical Graffiti.  I can't believe the cutting is showing signs of growth only ten days after I received it.  I hope the Delight gets on the bandwagon soon.

I made a trellis from scrap wood.  I am so excited about the new cuttings and the possibility of home grown pitaya fruits.  I decided to place the Wellspring hylocereus as well as a polyrhisus seedling in the pot.  Perhaps I will get to taste the fruit in a year or two.

The plant shows signs of impending branches in two locations.  It's kind of hard to tell from the photo.

Meyer Lemon Cutting

I pruned a branch from the lemon tree because it was crossing over another more vigorous branch.  I've tried rooting other cuttings with minimal success.  I decided to peel back the bark to expose the cambium layer, dipped the plant in rooting hormone, wrapped the stem in moist moss, wrapped the moss in plastic, and cut the leaves to discourage transpiration.  We'll see if this helps the plant develop a decent root system.

Seedling Dragon Fruit

This is the tallest of the seedlings.  Its height is just under 2 inches tall.  The plants out in the greenhouse are wider because they are getting more sun.  The thinner, lanky plants are stretchhing towards the sun.
